When Faith Feels Quiet: Trusting God in the Silence
There are seasons in life when God feels incredibly close.
You feel Him in the worship songs on the radio.
You feel Him in answered prayers.
You feel Him in the peace that settles into your heart when things finally start to make sense.
But there are also seasons when it feels… quiet.
Not because God has gone anywhere.
Not because our faith is gone.
But because we’re walking through a place where the answers haven’t come yet.
And if I’m being honest, those are the seasons that challenge my faith the most.
The Kind of Faith That Isn’t Loud
Sometimes I think we expect faith to always look strong and confident.
Like the kind of faith that says,
“I know exactly what God is doing.”
But the truth is, some of the deepest faith is the quiet kind.
The kind that whispers:
“God, I don’t understand this… but I’m still choosing to trust You.”
There have been moments in my life where I’ve prayed and prayed about something, hoping God would move quickly.
Hoping the door would open.
Hoping the pain would ease.
Hoping clarity would come.
Instead… there was silence.
And in those moments, the enemy loves to plant questions like:
Did God forget you?
Is your faith not strong enough?
Why does it seem like everyone else’s prayers are answered but yours aren’t?
But the silence of God is not the absence of God.
Sometimes it’s the place where God is doing His deepest work.
God Is Still Working in the Waiting
Scripture reminds us that waiting is not wasted.
Isaiah 40:31
"But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."
Waiting stretches our faith.
It reveals where we have placed our hope.
And sometimes, it gently reminds us that God’s plan is bigger than what we can currently see.
I wish I could say I handle waiting perfectly every time.
But the truth is, I wrestle with it.
I wrestle with questions.
I wrestle with uncertainty.
I wrestle with wanting control.
Because when you’ve lived a life where things often felt unstable or uncertain, you learn to crave control.
But God keeps inviting me back to the same place:
Trust Me.
Even when the answer hasn’t arrived yet.
Faith Haven Was Built in the Quiet
What many people don’t see is that the heart behind Faith Haven Voices was formed in seasons of silence.
Seasons where I felt unseen.
Seasons where I questioned my place in the world.
Seasons where I wondered if my story mattered.
But God was still writing.
Every painful chapter…
Every moment of loneliness…
Every struggle to understand where I belonged…
God was weaving it into something meaningful.
What once felt like broken pieces of my story became the very message I now share with others.
And that’s something God does over and over again.
He takes the parts of our story that feel the most confusing and uses them to bring hope to someone else.
Maybe You’re in a Quiet Season Too
Maybe right now you’re praying for clarity.
Or healing.
Or direction.
Maybe you’re asking God to restore something that feels broken.
And maybe it feels like the answer hasn’t come yet.
If that’s where you are today, I want you to know something important:
God hasn’t forgotten you.
Not for a moment.
Your prayers are heard.
Your tears are seen.
Your story still matters.
Scripture reminds us:
Psalm 34:18
"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
Even when heaven feels quiet, God is near.
Closer than we realize.
The Kind of Faith That Changes Us
Sometimes God calms the storm immediately.
Other times, He strengthens us while we walk through it.
And while that isn’t always the answer we hope for, it’s often the place where our faith grows deeper than we imagined possible.
Faith isn’t just believing when everything is clear.
Faith is choosing to trust God even when the path ahead still feels uncertain.
2 Corinthians 5:7
"For we live by faith, not by sight."
That means there will be moments where we don’t see the whole picture yet.
But we keep walking anyway.
Because we trust the One who does.
If You Feel Forgotten
If you are in a season where life feels heavy or quiet…
I want you to hear this today:
You are not forgotten.
Not by God.
Not by the purpose He placed inside of you.
Not by the story He is still writing through your life.
Even the quiet seasons have meaning.
Even the waiting seasons have purpose.
And sometimes the very thing we’re walking through today becomes the message that helps someone else believe tomorrow.
A Prayer for the Quiet Seasons
Heavenly Father,
Sometimes faith feels strong and confident, but other times it feels fragile and uncertain. In the quiet seasons when answers seem far away, help us remember that You are still present and still working.
Remind us that silence does not mean abandonment. Strengthen our hearts when waiting feels difficult and help us trust that Your plans are always guided by love and purpose.
For those who feel forgotten, lonely, or unsure of where they belong, wrap them in Your peace today. Let them feel Your presence and know that their story still matters.
Give us the courage to keep walking by faith, even when we cannot yet see the path ahead.
Thank You for being a God who never leaves us and never stops working in our lives.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
If this message resonated with you, I’d love to hear from you.
You can always visit the blog at Faith Haven Voices and share your thoughts or prayer requests.
You are seen.
You are heard.
And you are never walking alone. 🤍
With love,
Debbie
